Lowcountry pollen season runs roughly late February through April, and it will coat exterior glass in a yellow film within days at its peak.

Beaufort County's tree canopy — loblolly and longleaf pine, live oak — is dense and mature, and pine pollen in particular is produced in enormous quantities and travels on the smallest breeze. Wooded inland lots often catch more pollen than waterfront lots catch salt.

Timing the cleanings

One cleaning mid-pollen-season is wasted; the film returns in days. The rhythm that works is a visit near the tail of the season to clear the bulk, with the film managed rather than fought in between.
